Inside Mind of a Hacker Event Showcases Vulnerabilities

Professional Hacker Exploits Software, Hardware & Humans Demonstrating Ease of Hack

(June 24, 2011) St. Louis, MO - On June 15, Parameter Security held it’s much anticipated executive breakfast seminar entitled “Inside the Mind of a Hacker: What Corporate America Should Know." This well-attended St. Louis event drew representatives from a variety of companies including Fleishman-Hillard, Booz Allen Hamilton, Mueller Prost PC, Huntleigh McGehee, Stone Carlie, Allied Intelligence, Convergent Communications, Computer Associates and the St. Louis Business Journal. Attendees’ interests were diverse as well with position titles ranging from company owner and president to sales director, account executive, vice president, IT Manager and CFO, to name a few.

Ethical Hacker, Dave Chronister captured the audience’s attention for three stimulating hours with his dynamic speaking style and enthusiasm for sharing valuable information. With a wealth of personal anecdotes, it was obvious that Chronister has a long history with and extensive knowledge of hacking and information security.

During his presentation, Chronister trounced stereotypes and motivations of malicious hackers. He described and demonstrated how easy it is for a determined person to exploit and manipulate computer users and stop productivity. Their targets include those that do not hold sensitive data as well as those who do. Chronister covered the different ways that cyber security attacks can be carried out and information can be stolen, even completely without the users’ knowledge and when security measures are in place.

Chronister’s presentation also included discussion of current technology trends such as mobile applications, cloud computing and social networking, and their associated security concerns. The seminar concluded with Chronister’s top five most overrated and underrated security measures, which further provided applicable and empowering security information. The audience was made aware of how individual actions, company policies and outside resources can help decrease security vulnerabilities.

Based on excellent evaluation responses, the breakfast seminar proved to be very beneficial to attendees. One attendee commented, “This was absolutely awesome…It had enough…to interest the techies and it was broad enough for management. I was very impressed with the whole presentation.” Parameter’s team received lots of positive feedback and several companies are requesting security awareness training for their employees. Interest and demand from St. Louis companies are compelling Parameter to hold related seminars in the near future. Plans are also being made to hold this executive breakfast in other major cities.
